Florida Sunshine Shake

1 cup Florida orange juice
½ cup pink or red Florida grapefruit juice
1 ripe banana
½ cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients in blender until smooth.   Pour and serve immediately.

Makes 1-2 servings.

Nutrition facts per 1 serving: 373 calories, 10 g protein, 81 g carbohydrate, 2 g total fat (1 g saturated fat), 6 mg cholesterol, 4 g dietary fiber, 85 mg sodium. Daily Value: 234% vitamin C, 28% thiamin, 24% riboflavin, 25% calcium, 39% potassium, 94 micrograms folic acid.

Florida Refresher

Sip this fruity drink at breakfast, as a refreshing snack, or a low fat dessert.

2 cups buttermilk
1 cup cut-up strawberries
¾ cup frozen Florida orange juice concentrate (do not thaw)
6 ice cubes
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla

Place all ingredients in a blender container; cover and blend until frothy. If desired, garnish with additional strawberries.

Makes 3 (12-ounce) servings.

Nutrition facts per serving: 194 calories, 7 g protein, 39 g carbohydrate, 2 g total fat (1 g saturated fat), 6 mg cholesterol, 1 g dietary fiber, 174 mg sodium. Daily Value: 180% vitamin C, 14% thiamin, 17% riboflavin, 17% calcium, 20% potassium, 105 micrograms folic acid.



Orange-Grapefruit Fizz

Here's a vitamin-packed drink that offers a refreshing alternative to bottled soft drinks.

¾ cup frozen Florida orange juice concentrate, thawed
¾ cup frozen Florida grapefruit juice concentrate, thawed
1 1-liter bottle carbonated water or tonic water, chilled
Ice cubes

Pour thawed concentrates into a pitcher. Gently stir in chilled carbonated or tonic water. Pour over ice in glasses. Serve at once.

Makes about 7 (6-ounce) servings.

Orange-Yogurt Nog

Creamy and tangy, this drink is a great way to treat yourself.

2 8-ounce cartons vanilla low-fat yogurt
1½ cups skim milk
¾ cup frozen Florida orange juice concentrate, thawed

Place yogurt, milk, and thawed concentrate in a blender container. Cover and blend until smooth.

Makes 4 (about 9-ounce) servings.

Nutrition facts per serving: 221 calories, 9 g protein, 42 g carbohydrate, 2 g total fat (2 g saturated fat), 8 mg cholesterol, 0 g dietary fiber, 114 mg sodium. Daily Value: 138% vitamin C, 15% thiamin, 22% riboflavin, 23% calcium, 19% potassium, 100 micrograms folic acid.



Orange-Papaya Shake Break

Whip up a quick batch of this smooth drink for an afternoon pick-me-up.
 

1 8-ounce carton vanilla low-fat yogurt
¾ cup frozen Florida orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 small papaya or mango, seeded, peeled, and chopped
½ cup skim milk
2 tablespoons honey
8-10 ice cubes

Place yogurt, thawed concentrate, papaya or mango, milk, and honey in a blender container. Cover and blend until smooth. With the blender running, add ice cubes, one at a time, through hole in lid. Blend until smooth. Garnish each serving with a skewer of fresh fruit.

Makes 3 (about 8-ounce) servings.

Golden Slush

For a festive touch, garnish with orange slices, halved.

1½ cups frozen peach slices
¾ cup frozen Florida orange juice concentrate, thawed
¼ cup water
1 to 2 tablespoons sugar

Let peaches stand at room temperature 5 to 10 minutes. Place peaches, thawed concentrate, water, and sugar in a blender container. Cover and blend until smooth.

Makes 3 (5-ounce) servings.
